He graduated from the Mimar Sinan University, Fine Arts Faculty, Photography Department. (Istanbul, Turkey) During his education he formed his company: PLANART in 1990 and started working professionally. While he was majoring in Studio and Architectural (interior - exterior) photography he improved his knowledge and advanced his equipment on the above mentioned major.
Being aware of the fact that high visual quality is necessary for Professional Advertisement and Promotion, he pays extreme attention to use large film formats such as 8"x10"(20x25 cm) and 4"x5"(10x12.5 cm) to meet this requirement and to create superior visual quality. In 1996, Baskir became a member of the Association of Advertising Photographers.
Believing that every single shot is also a tool for professional and personal development, Başkır uses the traditional shooting practices and finalizes his work by analogue methods. He pays extreme attention to work under the principle that there should be minimal interference to the film after shooting so that there is no need to retouch or act on the original photograph.
Besides he is giving Advertising Photography services to the agencies and independent clients he is also lecturing in the Kocaeli Üniversity for the course titles "Photography Projection" and "Advertising Photography"
